Are those Titans? I have Two sets of Titans, but I am considering transferring the 15" snows to my '98 XC.Ludermilch wrote:Finally settled on what I needed to do to my wagon to achieve the look I wanted. First I went from 225/35/17 tires to a set of 225/50/17. That filled in the wheel wells better. There is only the slightest rubbing at full lock. Next I tried out a few combinations of struts/springs. Chose some struts meant for a V70 GLT and kept the XC springs so the front kept a good ride height. This my result. I'm happy. But I wonder of springs from an AWD V70 would make much difference.
I believe the Titan 17" will go on the '96 wagon in a monh or so, when the roads are repaired a bit here in Michigan.
The other set will remain on the '95 T-5R. That was the only vehicle, and year for which the Titan 17" were produced.

Thought I'd add a bit of info to this post. I was at good old PnP yesterday, trying to see if I could find some back-order parts for my 2000 V70R. I came back with parts from a 2000 V70 XC and from what I can tell there are a few differences in the rear suspension, which may be mean there may also be differences in the front also, not all obvious.
The lower control arms at the rear are the same on the R and XC (part # also). The stay bars from the jacking point to the lower control arm are also the same.
I wish I had thought to take a measuring tape with me, as I didn't bring the nivomats from the XC as they had no compression what so ever and the gaiters were wrecked. I wanted to actually see if the nivomats are all the same length or are longer on the XC. I think the damping ratings are obviously different, but not convinced on the overall length. Also didn't check the spring lengths, again didn't buy them as I don't need them.
As I didn't have any way of un-doing the rear drive axle nuts, I brought the hub assembly home (I was not charged for them). Looking up on Vida at the part numbers for the hubs on both cars, they are different. I did some rough measurements, and the only obvious difference is the upper control arm mounting on the hub is about 3-4mm higher. Otherwise couldn't find any major differences. I'm guessing this is to allow for a longer spring length. Need to look up the front hubs now also to see if this is the same, or if they use the same hub at the front.
The 2 adjustable stays from the middle of the rear sub-frame running out to the rear of the rear hubs are also listed as different part numbers, but are of identical diameter and length.
Rear drive axles are the same and same part #'s.
Not sure if this is of much help, but worth considering if dropping the XC height or raising an AWD.
Neil.

Ludermilch, this is an old thread but wanted to see if you could give a little more description to what you did? Did you keep your rear Nivomats like you initially said you wanted to or ditch them or do the lowering option you'd mentioned via drop bolts or somehow fooling them? And for the front, did you just swap out the actual strut keeping your older spring? Thanks man!
