2002 V70 N/A with an etm problem

Post by road runner »

Hi all,
Just purchased a 2002 V70 N/A with an etm problem, replaced the etm with a xemodex etm the car ran great for about 2 weeks then on cold start limp mode poor ldle and OBD2 code P1026. let the car warm up a bit and was able to reset. now it seems to be getting more frequent.thought bad grounding cleaned and performed etm flow chart test but can't seem to find anything wrong. could this be the MAF acting up ?

up date,
since cleaning ground for etm and removing relay and putting it back I've had no problem ? the ground was clean but maybe not grounding good or the relay wasn't making good contact. maybe it didn't need the ETM ?

ETM is always on the short blame list even when symptoms and codes don't point to it.

Were the codes P1026 prior to ETM replacement?

Error code P1026 on a Volvo is usually a transmission code related to speed sensors of which there are two.

Best thing is to scan this car with a Vida/Dice system

a little more insight, It seems to do it when the temprature drops fast ?
yesterday it was +3 C and drops to -6 C in about 4hrs and when I started it it was in limp mode. could it be moisture in the ECM that freezes ? after it warms up to operating temp turn it off and restart and it's out of limp. the code P1026 will remain for 3-4 starts and clear. it also gives P2077 witch is the o2 that I figure is from the way it's sputtering

I would call XeModex and get their opinion; after all you have the code reading and they know best how to decipher the P codes you're getting.

If they still believe it's a throttle issue they'll replace it. P1026 doesn't translate to any code in Volvo nomenclature using the Equus site.

Best to have it read by a Volvo specific scanner such as an Autel EU-702, 801 or 802 or a Vida/Dice setup.

so I purchased a vida dice not so good with it yet but am getting fault ECM-914F throttle position (TP) sensor 1 and 2 faulty signal,I performed the etm test and there was only a diff of 1.27 deg. I also have a fault with the siren for the alarm UEM-0004 communication fault. could this cause a problem? this car also has a remote starter that is in valet mode could this part of the problem ? When it goes into limp if I pull/replace the fuse the etm gives me a double click (on then off ?)and changes nothing I also tried replacing the relay with no change but if I unplug the ETM and plug it back in it resets the ETM and I'm back on my way for maybe 10 min. or 2 days. thanks in advance

Looks more and more like a faulty ETM; pretty rare for a XeModex to fail but is possible of course. The double click is the self diagnostic function telling you it has totally lost input from one of the sensors. 914F is usually an internal permanent fault.
