2002 C70 cv axle

Post by Syd_c70 »

Hi all

Could you let me know if this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1-Pair-Volvo ... 0883524936 will fit in my 2002 C70 convertible? When I checked in VADIS, it did give me B5234T3 as the engine.

Alternatively, could someone post the picture of the axles I will need to buy for the left and right. The reason I am asking is because I want to get the right one at wrecker and re-grease with the Volvo OE kit. My car is the right-hand drive.

Thanks,

So I have the chance to go under the car and was able to identify the part for the axles. Left Lobro P/N is P8689238 and the right is P8689239. My question is it possible for the axle grease to dry out since I checked and the boots on both side are all good with no tear or any grease on or around it?

On another note, could you take a look at the lower control arm and tie rod end bushes and let me know if I need to replace them? I plan to replace them when I do the axle.

Thanks,

I suppose it is possible for the grease to dry out but it is certainly unusual. The typical failure is for the boots to split and then the grease gets spun out. I did have a pair of them go bad after I managed to bury the car to the frame on a mud road during a thunderstorm. It took them about 12 hours to get it towed out with a farm tractor. I guess the water seeped in and they were clacking pretty bad about 2 weeks later.

I can't tell the condition of the boot on the control arm but if the boot is split it isn't going to last much longer even if it is tight. Just looking at them the bushings look fine. The tie rode end needs to be changed since the boot is destroyed.
