1998 v70 How to get those hose clamps off ?

Tons of folks use the worm drive clamps with no problems.

Definitely good enough, as stated most people use worm gear clamps permanently and have zero problems.

Oetikers do a better job at clamping but that doesn't mean they are necessary, especially at this stage of an old car's life.

After having my mechanic-installed worm drive clamp saw through the uppermost PCV system feeding into the can cover, I use Oetiker clamps exclusively in PCV systems.

Hi again,

I also wondered about the worm gear clamps with a sort of sleeve around the hose first, so the clamp would be touching the sleeve not the hose itself. For example, a larger diameter hose section around the smaller hose and then the worm clamp. The worm clamp would be contacting the second, larger diameter hose but not the one underneath as that would only contact the larger hose inside diameter.
What i was hoping for was a more flexible solution so it can be tested now and then without having to cut the clamps off and put new ones back on. I didnt price them yet though either, nor the tool required to put them on. What kind of tool is used for these one time only clamps?
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

BTW, abscate, congrats with regard to the last line of your sig lines. I like to see couples STAY together rather then split up after one little problem comes up.
Will look into that tool.

Hi,

Thanks.

I am starting to see how this works now...you buy a tool and a kit of clamps then go to town clamping every hose you can find within a 10 mile radius :-)

I'll probably have to wait on that, but it looks like it is definitely in my future.

I almost forgot to mention, those clamps dont look like the ones on this car. The ones on this car have some sort of interlocking mechanism, which i thought might be 'unlocked' somehow. When i look on the web i see a description that says "Marine" Oetiker.

Those are the ones we are talking about, they are the factory Oetikers. Cutting them is cleanest but if you just pry away at the bulge with a screwdriver from a few directions you can almost always get them to "unlock" and open up.
