New Volvo owner. In my new to me 960 wagon, I chased down the oil leak to the filler neck & cap, 1.00 for a new gasket. while cleaning all the oil of the top of the head I discovered the crimped tube under the plastic trim pannel (see photo). It looks to have exited one time mid block but where it was to go or what its function was is a bit of a mystery as it is not listed in any manual I have located? Any Ideas? Was this an authorized mod. for some reason... or could this be a potential vac leak or crank case pressure relief system problem?
Any Ideas?
Thanks,
MIke

I'd have to look at parts manual, but maybe a blowby hack. Engine in your vehicle maybe a 1995, according to DAVE.Mike-n-levi wrote:Any Ideas?
Question is, how did they relieve blowby on 1993.
PS: You live south of Salina?

Yes, that is a head from an engine that used secondary air injection. 92-94 US/Canadian cars didn't use that but 95-98 did.
92-98 6 cylinder do not use a crankcase vent hose on head.

Chances are, someone did not change timing belt, it broke, and a head from 95-98 was used.jimmy57 wrote:Yes, that is a head from an engine that used secondary air injection.
In Kansas, slim pickens for 960 heads...same goes for 240s/740s/940s...
