1998 v70 Tiny Hose Clamps Needed

Post by MrAl »

Hi,

I need some very tiny hose clamps for some hoses in the engine compartment. I've checked around and even ordered some.
The ones i got were advertised as fitting a 1/4 inch hose, but when you screw them down that far they do not form a circle they form a strange deformed circle with one side of it a flat rather than circular. That happens because the 'band' metal of the clamp is much to thick and wide to form into a nice circle. The band on these is 5/16 inch wide and made out of metal that is a too heavy gauge.

What i need is a small screw clamp that has an 1/8 wide band, and made from thinner gauge metal. These clamps will fit much better around a 1/4 hose. Problem is, i cant find any on the web.
They have lots of clamps most starting at about 1/2 inch diameter and all made from heavy gauge metal.

Auto parts stores dont even seem to have them, but i know they are made.

Any ideas where to get these kinds of hose clamps? I would like to get the very tiny screw type.

Thanks.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

- Search ebay for "Oetiker" clamps.
There is an ebay seller listing 10 Oetiker clamps for about $2.50-$3.00 or so.

- Buy different sizes.

Get the spring type clamps. They sell an assortment at Harbor Freight. I can only imagine that you need these for the fuel pressure regulator vent hose that runs up along the coolant pipe on back of engine. That hose would never come off if not clamped. It has no pressure as it is open at the end where it dumps on air hose from MAF to turbo.

I just bought myself an assortment of Oetiker clamps, which is what the car came with. Has all possible sizes for vac hoses, and they're perfectly round when tightened.

The car didn't come with Oetikers on the small vacuum lines, most of those were spring clamps, see jimmy57's post.

Hi,

Ok thanks i'll check out the spring clamps.
I didnt want to use the 'one time only use' clamps i wanted to be able to get them off in a pinch and put them back on without any required tool for crimping.

Ok checked Harbor Freight and they dont have any of those type, at least not listed on their web site. Where did you see them last?
