And I do appreciate all the help I can get. Especially because I have the only Volvo in town, and the nearest dealer is a 9 hour drive away.

Get the front end up,on jack stands and have someone ease the wheel back and forth while you check the tie rod ends (4total) for play. That's the primary cause of handling issues, not struts and springs

How many kms are on the odometer on your 2001?

You probably have another 30-40000 km before the ETM dies completely. Save your money and wait for that day.

You need to be really good to your transmission, if it is a automatic. The 2001 transmission is weak. Never power flush it, slowly replace fluid with a series of drain and fills over a few months

With P0121 sensor 2 has failed or is failing.

You can purchase a contactless conversion kit for about $140 and repair the ETM if you can use a soldering iron
