Hello All,
My name is Jason VanGorden and I'm the Volvo Product Manager here at FCP. I just wanted to reach out to everyone after reading this with a thank you for bringing this to my attention. I know just how frustrating it can be when your in the middle of a repair and you either come up short of the parts needed or better yet receive the incorrect parts altogether. I want to express my sincerest apologies for the inconvenience this has caused. At FCP we always strive to provide the best quality parts and service in the industry and if there's any situation where we fall short of that we want to hear about it. I went ahead and added the missing hose which I confirmed is actually shown in our photo but was not in the parts list which was in fact an error on our behalf, our apologies.
Eriscentro, this is not a common theme here at FCP and I know this won't exactly remedy your past experience but I would like to extend out to you a $25.00 store credit to your account toward a future purchase that will not expire and can be used immediately. If you could reach out to me personally at [email protected] I'd appreciate it.
We appreciate all of our forum support whether it be negative or positive and always use any information we receive from Mathews Volvo Site members to tailor to your needs. In the future if there is anything that I can personally do to make your experience at FCP better please don't hesitate to let me know.
Happy New Year to Everyone!
Jason

96 850 NA PCV Guidance/Hose ID
Your post was fantastic. Thanks for the pictures. I'm working on my 97 850 NA, and the hose from the PCV box seems to go to nowhere. I can't find a connection. Can/should I just let it vent to the open air? Pretty confused at the moment.
erikv11 wrote:Yes, some info about the smaller vac line is tucked away in the same follow-up post where I suggest re-using the oil trap: Use 5/16 vacuum line for the nipple on the intake manifold. This will be a little big for the nipple at the flame trap, so make sure you have a clamp to tighten it down well at that end. But don't break the fragile, plastic nipple! Generic rubber vacuum hose is great in this application, and cheap.eriscentro wrote:... I saw that my local autozone sells the 5/8 hose for that price. When substituting heater hose for 9125598, what size hose is used for the smaller vacuum line? It likely was mentioned inside the thread regarding the substitution ...
For the oil trap line, one of the things talked about in that long thread is that the vent has to make a 90˚ bend and there is some risk of cheap heater hose collapsing, a few people have posted about that problem. I would suggest using fuel line or a heavy heater hose. Or even just buy a heater hose that is pre-formed with a 90˚ angle in it, I did one that way last spring, the only catch was I had to use RTV silicone to seal the flame trap housing, I don't remember if that was because the housing was in bad shape already or because of the angle of the heater hose:

Thanks!
Do you mean the long straight hose with the 90 degree bend?

It connects to the flame trap housing near the throttle body. The housing is just below the distributor cap, it is easier to connect it when the cap is off.

And even better, they don't go out of calibration.dosbricks wrote:A small 3/8" drive beam type torque wrench is a good size for smaller bolts. They are inexpensive, and will do a lot less damage.
