1998 V70 T5 fob programming

If this question has been asked and answered, forgive the duplication and feel free to erase this query.

I recently bought a 1997 V-70 T5; it came with one key, but no fob. I'd like to get a keyless entry remote if not too expensive. I read in another thread that the 1999-2000's require dealer programming but it was unclear how to set-up the 1998, if at all possible. Can I do this myself?

I have a 1997 850 with keyless entry and a fob; can these be exchanged in the 1998 v-70? (I believe the units are different but before I tear the dash apart, thought to ask.)

It sounds like not a big deal.
I have a working fob from my '98 V70 T5, just don't have a working V70 T5 to go with it.

His Title says '98, but context says '97.
I know my fingers are to fat for typing, maybe others are the same way.

My point is, AFAIK, V70s came on the market in the US in '98.
In the States a '97 P80 would be an 850. Am I missing something?

1998 is the premier year for V70. It was produced and sold from early in 1997 so the build date on door might lead to thinking it is a year earlier but the VIN character for year model would be the one for 1998.

Sorry I wasn't notified of the discrepancy in the thread; the car is a 98 V70. I made the mistake because I was used to entering 97 for the 850 I own (off the road, now). Sorry for the confusion and belated response.
