they should match but the process is as easy as you say (only for 850's up through '96 I believe). In your car, make sure all your doors are shut before you start. Once you get one programmed, you have a few seconds to hit any button on the second one to program it and then the third... you can program up to 3 this way.

Actually, you're programming the unit in the car (not your FOB) to match up with your particular FOB, as funny as it sounds. That's why if you program one and not the other, the other will no longer work. Get the logic?

Awesome - I'm onto that. And that answers my next question (Could you program a 2nd hand one as long as the code was right) too - you're a marvel! Thanks

Why thank you!
Just don't start singing any praises until you get both programmed. Good luck and post back!

Hey MIJ
Groton says that the programming you mentioned (ignition key 5 times) will work with my 2000 S70 if the center of the dash has a security light . Is that true?
Dont want to try it and wipe out the only working Fob I have for that car.
And can you clarify the process after I hit the first remote with the lock button, what do I hit on the secod and third and what will the dash do And how much Time do I have?

Thanks For your help

FCP has a lot of great info, but they're dead wrong on this one...
The 98-00 cars will need a trip to the dealer to add a new remote.
IIRC, the receiver in the car can store codes for up to 4 remotes,
but it IS gonna cost you. Unless you've got a really cool dealer
that'll slide you the programming fee.

My new to me 850 has had the alarm disconnected.
The central locking is not working.
Could the two be connected?
When I unlock the drivers door with the key I hear a very slight clicking in the drivers side rear door.
[In my case in Australia this is the right side of the car.]
I don't want keyless entry or alarm, just central locking from the driver's door.
Thanks guys, great forum.
Dan
