How can you possibly tell it's awful from an out of focus photo?
Remove the board and sight the brand name underneath. The good boards come in both blue and green. Is it a Teleca??
Does it work?

Chinese can put what ever they want on Teleca boards or they just put Teleca sign on PCB board. I had blue Teleca board and it was terrible soldering, everything was overheated I think soldering was made by hand. You can find picture of my blue board in this thread. Now I have green one good quality it is super clean no solder flux on PCB - perfect soldering it like day and night.
Green and blue one obliviously not made in the same factory. And one factory making good units and another not so good.
I found post on other forum which shows that on teleca board you can find different components.
And one is very good and another is very bad. Same green Teleca boards.

There's no need to pay any more and zero problems with any of them.

Yes and no. The DICE unit is capable of loading software however the VIDA program that comes with the clone DICE units is a bootleg copy with a crack file to make it work. You cannot use that VIDA to do any software downloads.arby1984 wrote:Can I program a key fob with this one?
In order to do software downloads yo need to buy a VIDA subscription through Volvo and then buy the software through the website with a credit card. A 3 day subscription is listed as costing $82.33 however I have been told that they will not actually sell a 3 day subscription and that you must buy a 30 day subscription which costs $718.54. The software charge is somewhere in the $30.00 range to buy the download.
With all of that said you must have either a new keyfob or the sticker that came with a used keyfob when it was new so that the numbers can be entered into VIDA when buying the software. You cannot program a used keyfob that doesn't have the original sticker (they never do).
As bad as it chapped my @ss I wound up shelling out nearly $600 at the dealer to get a couple of spare keys and a keyfob for my XC.

I was wondering about something like that. I really appreciate your input Lee. When buying my xc90 I got 2 keys but no fobs and it's a pain. It makes it even worse that there is only one key hole. Thanks again!

Find set at the junkyard. Set is mirror + fobs from the same car. For your 2006 XC90 you can put any set from 2005-2006 MY.
If you have questions about Volvo firmware ask me. I may know an answer
How to use volvo vida dice?mouseskowitz wrote:I haven't given up by any means. I'm in the middle of finals right now so time to mess with this is limited. I have found a lot of stuff that doesn't work for an XP option. I'm somewhere in the range of plan E or F right now. So, why don't I list them.
Plan A: Run on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit - VIDA 2012D runs but unable to get computer to recognize DICE.
Plan B: Run XP in Hyper-V on Windows 8 Pro 64-bit - VIDA 2012A installed and working but Hyper-V does not support USB so DICE obviously not working. There is a theoretical workaround of buying a network enabled USB hub but I'm not going there.
Plan C: Run XP on Windows 8 Pro 64-bit with VMware: Installer errors out halfway through installation. That can be fixed but looks like too much of a pain to deal with at the moment. Not sure if the problem is caused by having Hyper-V running before.
Plan D: Run Windows 7 Pro 64-bit in XP mode (free virtual machine and XP from Microsoft) - Didn't take the time to install VIDA, just several different versions of the DICE drivers. Theoretically any USB device can be passed through to the XP environment, but I'm wondering if that is not working at the moment because the DICE is showing up as not installed and functioning correctly. My theory in not installing the VIDA here is that if the DICE Diagnostics cannot communicate with the unit VIDA won't get anywhere either.
Plan E: Next thing to try is creating a bootable XP USB HHD. Since I will be booting from it, it will have native control of the USB hubs so hopefully we many get somewhere.
Plan F: If E doesn't work I'll wipe the Windows 7 machine and install XP, but I hope we don't get to this.
If you are referring to the DICE firmware, you do not have to have a subscription to update that. From what I understand you cannot do it from a virtual machine XP. Sometimes the older firmware on these clone DICE don't play nice with a newer VIDA and you either have to upgrade firmware or downgrade VIDA.
I have plugged the DICE into the car and it does the same thing as when I plug it into the USB port. The firmware and vehicle interface lights are solid and the USB light blinks a couple of times before going out. One question on the light though. Should the vehicle light be lit if it is not plugged into a vehicle? Mine is. All the LEDs are blue and I'm not sure if they're capable of any other color.
I have an extension on marking the shipment as received and releasing the funds. So, I have about 2 weeks to get some form of XP going to prove if this thing is working or not. The shipper will only accept an XP screen shot as proof of being broken.

Henry are you saying that the key fob in 2005-2006 XC90 is matched with rear view mirror on windscreen and not the immobilser module?
