My concerns:
Will I loose fuel economy? Im thinking I will gain as there will be no turbo lag.
Will the ECU freak out?
What to do with the turbo control valve line that is hooked to the waste gates?
Will the 2.9 S80 non turbo exhaust manifolds fit exactly?
I was thinking of leaving the inter cooler in. Also was thinking of getting some flex pipes and looping the turbo pipes in place of the turbos.
As of now I get 20 MPG. This is pretty bad but I love this car.
I realize that I will need to plug up all the oil and cooling lines. Each turbo has two oil lines and two cooling lines. For each set of oil/cooling lines, there is an inlet and outlet, of course. I have ideas on how to achieve this without coming up with leaks (any tips are welcome). I have a very good mechanical background. I have opened up these turbos a few times already and know exactly what to do. Its pretty much a 6 hour job, which is removing, rebuilding and reinstalling. Depending on if you have help, it can vary. I can even write a how to and post it up here.
Let me mention that this is just a temporary solution. I need some time to come up with $600 to buy a whole new turbo set, with the housings and manifolds. I will keep the existing new CHRA's as spares, or rebuild and sell for a bit of a loss. Yea I wasted my time and $400 dollars on two CHRA's. I skipped checking the housing for rubbing. Actually I did, and they were not rubbing at first.
The reason why I want to strip them for a little while is because the turbo return line seals are leaking, the compressor wheel is hitting the housing and both the CHRA's are brand new (2 months old) btw its been a year since I replaced the oil return line seals. At that time I did not replace the turbos. The compressor wheel grinding will result in a premature turbo failure, to where the bearings will fail. I don't want to open all this up just to fix the oil leaks and not be able to fix everything all at once. I did that last year
I am having significant power loss. My car goes 0 to 60 mph in 9.5 seconds! Its supposed to be 6.7
Also where can I find the compressor housing seal. Its not an oring like the tdo4, its a paper thin gasket! Where on earth do I find this. I only find orings that schematics say the td04 oring is the same. That is not true. I also find oring that are the right size but are impossible to use cause the housing requires a thin gasket.
Just a bit of advice needed. Should I buy these here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-PAIR- ... 36&vxp=mtr
They are aftermarket, are they made with inferior parts compare to the original mitsubishi td03's? If anyone knows where I can buy the original turbos that are new and oem that would be awesome.
