how do i turn off the door chime in my 89 240dl?

I have the same problem. Just so happens that the car is also a 89 240DL.
I have a daughter that has a 92 760 turbo and she has the same problem. What I did with her car was to locate the chime relay under the dash and removed it. This was of course just a bandaid to the problem. I noticed on mine that the dome light also will not turn off. I did check each door switch to make sure they were working properly, and they were. Go figure..... When you find out what the solution is please let me know asap.
