99 V70-XC Transmission Wont Engage

Post by Niamhsdad »

I have a 99 V70-XC, I just finished replacing the transmission. It wouldn't reverse. Last night after putting it all back together, I backed it right out of the garage. I let it idle to check fluids, the abs and brake light, and the light for the STC or TRACS is on. I knew my ABS module was going. My speedo would drop off all the lights would come on, and then it would randomly come back. I then went to back up some more, and nothing. No reverse, no drive, nothing. The up arrow was lit, but not flashing. I then disconnected the battery, and reconnected it, the car backed up perfectly and drove forward for about 30 ft. And once again nothing. So i am wondering if a failed or failing ABS module would cause this. Also, this transmission came from a 2000 V70-XC used.

The vehicle speed is processed by the ABS and fed to the TCU iirc.

A bad ABS will cause havoc especially if it's intermittent.

Get some expert advice on matching the 2000 transmission to the TCU...on the ME7 cars, 1999-on, things have to be married much tighter than early P80s
