Ahoy there volvo knowledge trust,
I or should i say my wife, own a 2002 XC70 and the bushings in the front control arms are shot and need replacing. Rather than have the bushing replaced I've decided after much internet research (plenty of it from this site) to replace the whole arms. Now being in australia we automatically have the 'australia is in the middle of nowhere' tax and things cost a whole bunch more than the rest of the world and car parts are no exception. Ive been trying to source some replacement arms from the internet from other countries as i can get 2 arms delivered for the price of 1 arm here, but Im really confused as to what ones I actually need and is there actually a difference between all the options that look the same but have different part numbers.
Stamped on the arms are the numbers 8646375 & 8646376. A bit of hunting and google translate has found me sites saying that part numbers 36012460 and 30635232 (+ their opposite side matches) are possible replacement arms. Then another site suggests that my VIN number requires a part numbered 36051004.
When i look at images of all these parts they all look the same and in turn look the same as the control arm thats currently on my car.
Are they the same?? Will any of them be correct replacements?? If none of them are, what part numbers should i be looking for?!? I dont want to order some and have them be a tiny bit wrong and then have to figure out an international replacement.
The cars VIN is yv1sz58k721067282 should it help.
Thanks in advance
Trent

Drill and cut the old bushings out, you can do it yourself. Then put the arm in a solid vice bench and punch the new bushings in with a socket, some grease and a heavy hammer.
