2004 XC90 T6 Gearbox noise

Post by jsck4303 »

I am an American living in Germany and have a 2004 XC90 T6 with 94K miles on it.

My problem for which I need to see if anyone has had the same issue and can advice is:

while I am driving and accelerating, the car respond perfectly. I have no problem switching on or off, nor breaking.

But while I am driving, as soon as I remove my food from the gas pedal, I hear this noise like an engine sucking air or slowing down. I have no fault messages in the computer. Service was done, few months back.

If I go fast, say 120KM and remove my foot from the gas pedal the noise is loud, and as I break or slow down, the noise reduces accordingly to the speed.

I have the car in a repair shop and their believe is that there is something to do with the gearbox. I would like a second opinion.

Anyone answer will be greatly appreciated.

Check all turbo and intercooler plumbing for loose clamps or tears. Check and see if your CBV is working properly.
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)
