My awd drive doesn't work, I've never felt a need for it so I'm considering deleting it.
Can the angle bearbox be removed along with the prop shaft.?
Besides making a blocking plate or something, does it require anything else.?
2004 V70 delete awd gearbox.

I think you have to hose clamp the coupler to keep it in the transmission - I know there are some pictures in the P80 forum

yeh after looking around I'm gonna take another look at whether I should actually fix it.
Xemodex requires a new pump be purchased if they repair the DEM module.
I recall it was around $900, I could handle that now that the house is paid off.
But before that I need to lift the car and make sure the prop shaft rotates.
Well its 0degs F right now so it can wait.

$349 for pump, filter and fluid: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... 30783079kt
BorgWarner is who makes them now. They acquired Haldex a few years ago.
IPD sells DEM splash/heat shield: https://www.ipdusa.com/products/9029/Di ... IPD-120374 A bit pricey, but you can make your own.

a few yrs ago I removed the DEM and opened it up, nothing visibly toasted, so I put it back, but the O rings no longer sealed.vtl wrote: ↑03 Mar 2025, 05:07 $349 for pump, filter and fluid: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... 30783079kt

A slow drip ran it low on fluid and soon I could hear the pump whine , sounded similar to the fuel pump. So I pulled the fuse.
I plan to do an ohm check on the pump, I've read if it draws too much current it can burn the DEM.
Theres a few company's that will rebuild the DEM for less than $350, so if the pump checks out I'll pull the DEM and send it out.

I just removed my propshaft and angle gear yesterday while I repair and reseal a replacement angle gear. It takes about 3 hours and is pretty straightforward to do. You can unplug the Haldex pump if you are concerned that it is using too much amperage. Vida will tell you if there is any problems with the DEM and Zemodex can repair that piece. You can use a hose clamp at the end of the passenger axle to ensure that the collar sleeve doesn't come out of the transmission but it shouldn't, most are pretty hard to remove but some apparently just slide off. Before you take the propshaft out see if it spins freely independent of the transmission......this may give some insight as to where the problem is. The splines may be gone or the pinion bearing may have failed, in this case you just need a good angle gear and collar sleeve.
When the AWD works it is a thing of beauty, I wouldn't consider settling for just running it in FWD when it fails. I would expect that it would be valuable to have in Maine.

I had a shhh shhh noise that was the prop shaft rubbing on the heat shield, so I think the angle gear is still working, I need to check it again when the weather breaks.
