Well the turbo rebuild kit is at the house!!! Along with the manual waste gate controller. Looks like a Turbo kinda night. I really hope that doing all of this work will bring this car to life. I've read alot of post and watched alot of videos of fast 850's and I want mine to be one of them.

I was going to go the 18T route. Until I rode in this car... It's the Turbo trim level running a K24 + R Exhaust manifold + Manual swap + Tune + Supporting mods. My goal now is to chase down all those parts and run a similar setup.

Man, look how easy that CBV is with the turbo out. I think I spent 4 hours in Hades doing that on the T5

Ok, I managed to drop the Turbo oil return o-ring down into the engine. I don't feel like it will hurt anything but now I don't know the size. Anyone know were I can find the size or buy the o-ring? I looked on parts geek and can't find it.
Progress the Turbo is reassembled with the rebuild kit. It's going for a rebalance today.

- T5 ECU
- higher flowing injectors from the same car as the ECU, to match the ECU

There are basically two ways to do this:
(1) Get an ECU from a 97 T5 850 and the orange injectors that came with it. This is the easiest.
(2) Get a 98 T5 tune flashed (programmed) onto any 95-98 ECU and get either the orange injectors or the white injectors from a 98 T5. If you do this, you must be careful to also flash the appropriate AC parameters so the climate control works properly. Don't just get a 98 ECU, the AC will not work and you will kill the climate control unit. You can also get rid of SAS during the flash, if the car currently has it. And down the road you can do things like increase the boost level at your option. Used ECUs are cheap these days.

There are detailed instructions out there for flashing an ECU, it looks complicated but it is not bad once you get into it http://m44.wikia.com/wiki/M44_Wiki. I am running m4.4 on my 95 with a 15g and oranges (its original injectors), and on my 98 GLT with a 15g and whites, they both work great. I'd be happy to help you with the ECU flashing, PM me if you decide to go that way.
This is good info, I was thinking of doing this to my 98xc but I get the same ole your internals weren't made for that much boost!+!

For your 98 you can just get white injectors, a 15g or A 16t, and a 98 T5 ECU. Easy drop it in and away you go, zero issues for the rods and internals as long as you keep the standard T5 tune.

You will want to pay attention to emissions differences between the two cars to avoid a CEL.

my turbo oil O-ring plan.....hum I'm getting a gallon of kerosene tomorrow and filling the oil pan full. Let it sit for a day and hope with finger crossed that it will be within reach when i drain the pan. I HOPE!.

My next issues is I don't remember removing anything from this opening? The shop did it I think?
