So this is a long story,
Last week my S60 wouldnt start, battery was totally dead. Jump started car, but battery never charged. Got new battery , was driving car. About an hour into trip got low voltage readings, then every light and error lit up, car died. Replaced alternator, was verified bad. Car runs ok. Getting EL. Power System Service required every time car is started for about 2-3 seconds, error disappears.
Proceeded to do Transmission solenoid replacement on the weekend. Lowered subframe, raised motor, disconnected all cable from subframe, etc.
After transmission work , I am getting a P0600 Serial link error, when I try and read codes with VIDA it gets part way through reading all the codes and then says communication was lost. This happened at the same place every time. VIDA also shows as DISCONNECT state, and never shows voltage or key position.
From what I have found so far it seems like I have a communication error on the CANBUS network to a certain module. But I am not able to use VIDA to test any of the modules.
Does anyone have any advice on how to try and troubleshoot this? Thank you in advance!
PS. if someone can help me find this issue without taking it to shop I am willing to Paypal some cash for the help.

The EL errors after alternator change are extremely suspect. Get a genuine Bosch regulator and swap it in or even a used altermator from wrecked car.
I just did a valve body on a 2007 XC70 and I used the MVS write-up for a 2002 XC. I only disconnected the air cleaner/MAF and brake vacuum pump. Why did you drop the whole subframe; only one corner needs to be dropped??
Goimg back to where the trouble began may solve this one.

I added some more to my post above please re- read. I DID mention a regulator swap only.

I didn't drop the entire subframe, just the Driver front corner. the others I loosened. Sorry should have clarified.
The Rostra solenoids have worked like a champ though!
I wonder if the alternator could be causing my CANBUS issues as well?
And I mean a regulator swap on the new alternator I got from the auto parts store, the regulator definitely didnt say bosch on it.

If it wasn't a Bosch regulator then even more reason for possible issues.
A junkyard one for $30 or just an online Bosch regulator seller would be ok. rhe windings and diodes shouod be fine. I ordered the rebuilt Bosch made in Mexico for a 2002 XC70 from FCP afew years ago and it was fine.

went ahead and ordered a Bosch VR, going to try swapping it out in place rather than trying to get an entire new alternator, Will report back my findings, thanks!
