2000 volvo v70xc awd coolant disappearing

2000 volvo v70xc awd coolant disappearing

About once a week I have to top off the coolant reservoir. I can't find anywhere it's leaking or going, but I do smell coolant when I go from cold air to hot air for a few seconds. Anyone got any ideas

Probably a bad heater core inside the car - not too bad a job to do. 1-2 hours or so, and the part ranges from 35-90 USD. Lots of threads on this repair in the VRD.
