1998 V70 Starts But Then Stalls - P0455

Post by michaelw84 »

Ihave a 1998 V70 which has been running real good up until a week ago..it would start but then stall out right away...upon troubleshooting i disconnected the mass air flow sensor and the vehicle started and then stalls out right away as i reconnect it. Therefore i assumed this was the problem after so after i installed a new mass air flow sensor the same problem exists. i checked the codes and of course since my mass air flow is disconnected i get code P0102 which is the mass air, i also get P0455 which is which is EVAP EMISSION SYS GROSS LEAK-ichecked all vacuum lines and air intake hoses everything seems to be ok....i am actually able to use vehicle with mass air flow disconnected after it warms up it actually runs fine...any ideas on why it doesnt run with mass air connected

It will not run with it connected because it's bad.
Was the replacement oem Bosch or aftermarket?
Evap leak will not prevent the engine from running.
Btw....you don't just reconnect maf sensor once you disconnect it in order to start the car :!: .
Valid procedure is to disconnect the maf, start the car and let the engine run with it disconnected. If it runs better, then maf is bad.If it will not even start or run with maf connected,it's also bad.

Oe means aftermarket...not OEM :!:
Replacement maf MUST be Bosch 0 280 217 107 just like the original(oem) one.
These cars will not work with anything aftermarket.
Did you get oem Bosch maf?

Hunt down and repair that vacuum leak, and your problems will go away

Yes,you need Oem Bosch and nothing else. :!:
These cars will NOT work with aftermarket sensors. They are out of specs right from the factory. It's ALWAYS better to buy used oem Maf than new aftermarket.

Return that piece of s*it if you can and grab oem used maf from junkyard...if you don't want to buy a new one.
Remember.....these cars will only work with OEM(Bosch) sensors. :!:

your MAF could be reading correctly, but a vac leak will cause unmetered air issues that the computer doesn't know what to do with. If you have a code for an emissions leak, fix that first. In the meantime, try putting the old MAF back in, and head to the local parts shop, borrow their code reader, and watch the live data for the MAF to see if its doing its job.
