1999 Volvo S70 EVAP codes

My check engine light came on recently and I have been having a problem diagnosing the issue. I took it to Autozone and got the following codes:

p0440
p0455
p0103
p0172

It stalls randomly when I am idling. It doesn't give me any issues while in motion. I'm pretty sure it is not the MAF sensor because I had that replaced a few months ago. I suspect it may be my O2 sensor because I have not had it replaced on the car, but I'm not ruling anything out. I'm not familiar with the layout of the EVAP system in my s70 so I don't know where to look for any possible leaking or cracked hoses.

Look for the post by member deepsouth on 25 April 2014. He goes into detail on the EVAP system dealing with codes P0455, P0440, and P0442. Great narrative and pictures.

What was the manufacturer and part number of the MAF for you installed? You are still getting a MAF code P0103 and P0172 pertains to mixture is rich. I would check for a intake leak.

It was a Cardone Reman/MAF sensor, part number 74-10044.

You should have a sticker on the hood, underneath, outlining all your hoses.

Off brand MAFS often just plain don't work on these cars....but, I would look to vacuum leak before you replace the MAF again.

p0172 is almost always a breaking or crumbling etc of the little elbow connection on the passenger side of the intake manifold. Tucked in behind the power steering pump.

If you still have the old (Bosch) MAF you may want to swap it back in, perhaps it was just fine.

I'm actually outside looking at it now. I do hear a hissing sound coming from the passenger side near the intake manifold but I can't pinpoint the exact location.

I did stumbled across this bad boy. I'm not certain if this may be the source of my problems, but it does not look connected properly (Center of second picture). I'm not too sure what it is exactly so can anyone tell me what I'm looking at. I know it is by my MAF sensor. Here are a few pictures of what I'm looking at and my perspective.

Those pics are not of a '99. A '99 will look considerably different under the hood, as you would have an ETM instead of a throttle body.

The thing is, I dont doubt you. It was sold to me as a '99 but mechanics identified it as a '98 so i've been confused about that.

Does anyone know if that dislocation could cause a problem in my EVAP system?
