P0102 is a code for "Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input ". Ireceived the check engine light after the car hezitated a couple of time during normal excereration in traffic. I had the code pulled at an Auto Zone and Cannot find any info on it.
I pulled the intake apart and cleaned the Mass Air Flow meter with alcohol and I did remove some grime. I went ahead and cleaned the throttle body, surrounding hoses internally, and replaced the throttle body gasket. I will try it tomorrow and see if the check engine light comes back.
BTW Auto Zone has the part for $275

AutoZone 0280217002 Bosch Air Flow Sensor $275.99
VolvoPartsDirect.com BH057991 Bosch Air Mass Sensor $201.94
www.fisherimports.com Air Flow Meter $40.01 used
Most of my research has shown that the sensor can be cleaned with 90% or better alcohol. It must be thoroughly dried. I am running a K&N filter and it has been on the car for about 70K miles. I clean the filter every 15 to 20K, according to how gunked up it looks. It has been about 10K since the last cleaning/re-oiling. When I cleaned the intake last night the crosshatch portion of the housing had grime on it. The sensor itself had very little grime as the q-tip used showed little discoloration after the cleaning. The sensor has the non-tamper Torx with the post in the center holding it in - I don't have the tool and I probably will cut a slot in the screw to get it off to be replaced with a normal Torx.
If the cleaning does not work I am going to go the used part route and get the $40 sensor form fisherimports.com. I will keep you posted...

Two days and 120 miles since I cleaned it and I have had no problems. It is pulling strong without any hesitation and there are no problem codes in the computer.

It's back... I cleaned my K&N air filter last weekend and after about 350 miles the engine stumbled in stop and go traffic and then died. When I cranked it back up the check engine light was back on - ran fine, but with check engine light on. Checked the housing and there is a light coating of oil on the crosshatch opening. Cleaned the tube, sensor and recleaned the K&N air filter (using less oil this time).
Went by Auto Zone to have code pulled and erased. Code was 102, just as I expected. Kid from AZ would not erase code - gave BS story about it is against the law for anyone that is not mechanic to erase and he recomended "mechnic friend" who would clear it for $45. Told him BS, left, and called the store the next day and informed mgr what transpired. He was not happy and told me to come back and he would clear the code.
Ordered item 46030-1VGA UNIVERSAL CODE READER from www.harborfreight.com for $35 (picked this info from OZBrick - I would rather pull my own codes without relying on enybody else). It was reported that this reader will read codes and reset the service light - I will update on that if I run into any problems. I will wait to reset code when I get this tool.
Cheers,

Wow, that may be a Godsend for many people around here. I'll get one if it works ok. The $100+ software/cables I have (runs on my laptop) to do the job is like trying to monitor a Space Shuttle launch in Chinese.

I received the Universal Code Reader (UCR) and tried it out. I know I have a 0102 stored and it is causing my check engine light to stay on. I plugged up the UCR and it went through its flashing and popped up the 0102 code 4 times and then cycled through a series of lights , cused a few lights to ligh up on the dash and then started the process again. I disconnected and shut down the car and restarted. The Check Engine light is off but the service light is still on. I reconnected and I am getting 4 dashes which indicates that there are no codes stored - it still did not clear the service light.
I am going to check it out some more about the service light. For the money ($35 + shipping unless you buy other items to get the total over $50 for free shipping) it is worth it just to reset the check engine codes. I will update when I have more info on resetting the service light.
