99 xc70 190k miles Has been running ver well.
Daughter drove recently and water spewed out of reservoir. I think cap was loose. But car would not start after it cooled off, water everywhere. Left car and I went back next day to retrieve. I had to jump it and after cranking for ever it started and seemed to run fine. Got home after driving 15 min on hiway. Let it run to check for water leaks, none. Satisfied, shut it off, then it would restart. After cranking for a bit I pulled plugs, all were wet. I put in another set, no start. Car sat for several days with plugs out. I put oil in cylinders, spun engine w/o fuel relay in. Blew out cyl with compressed air, and replaced plugs. Jumped it and would not start. Did this several times and pulled relay again, dried cyls and blew out, cranked w/o plugs. Charged battery, replaced plugs coils, primed fuel with relay, removed relay, and it started using flood mode. ran for 15 seconds. I did this several times to get oil up in rings and flush out raw gas. then it did start with the relay in, like normal. it smoked for several minutes and I let it run till all was clear, completely warmed. up.. I did notice coolant temp gage did not raise. this is new. Checked for codes, one o2 senser has no voltage. but no code.
shut off engine no start. Replaced coolant temp sensor, cleared gas and replaced plugs, no start. checked compression, 100 -120 with some oil, so it is low but even. it has been getting more difficult to start, but nothing like this. All coils have spark, 50 psi fuel pressure. Good batt. I have not checked injectors yet, but that is my last thought.
