99 xc70 no start
I am posting the resolution to my no start situation that started a few weeks ago. Starting with a good running car. My daughter overheated it, I think from the expansion reservoir cap leaking. this allowed coolant to spew everywhere (everywhere) in the eng compartment. I got the car home the next day, but could not restart, like the lawn mower syndrome. Checked batt terminals and cables, good. Checked fuel pressure-50psi and held for 30 min,. Could hear relay run pump as well. Cranking did seem sluggish, swapped another battery, no go. I did pull all coils and checked for spark- good. checked compression, low and even at 80-90psi. now too much gas washed oil off rings. Squirted oil in and 150psi on all. No start, flooded. I had coils on off and pinched a wire on one and blew a fuse. Did not realize until way later. I did replace starter and could tell a great improvement in turn over. In all this, I noted that water droplets appeared to bead up on all spark plug boots. (seattle + rain). I dried and let set overnight. They would be wet the next morning, so I replaced boots, replaced plugs, then checked again for spark, none. Found a blown fuse to ign coils, and replaced. Started and runs very well. The perfect bad storm, and very frustrating experience. hope this helps someone else.

What are the symptoms and fixes for LMS?
abscate, those are the basics in a nutshell.
Nautic v70, there is a post on the v70 92-2000 forum (where I should have really posted my resolution above). check out the P80 no start diagnostic procedure there. My issue was a sudden onset, so I rule out rings and valve ssues. But those can contribute if the engine is cranking slowly as I determined. that procedure is really thorough. if you search LMS on this site you will find several scenarios.
