S80 2001 transmission failure

Hi All,
Here is the case; I have an S80 that had a tranny problems so i replaced with S80 2002 used tranny.Now after being installed, its locked on the forth gear all the time.I used the OBDII scanner and the error i got is confirming that.I clear up the error and restart the car and drive fine for about 50 feet, it get the same problem again. Any suggestions on this plz

I know it's a used tranny and so you probably had to fill with ATF....did you put the right type in there? Most all '00 and newer take the JSW-3309 (Mobil sells it at a reasonable price, but a Volvo also has it for much more than most are willing to pay), but your S80 may have a non-Aisin Warner tranny in it and take something completley different, even between '0 and '02 years... I'd check into this as the wrong ATF will cause lock up issues- at least that sounds very familiar to me.

thank you for reply.I think the mechanic used the correct fliud, however he asking about if the car would reqiure programing at the dealer since we installed new part on it?what do you think about this.

Could be....not sure. Would be worth a trip to the dealer or at least ask for confirmation.
