98 s70 Is it glt or gtl

Post by Clockboy »

I was looking at 98 s70's and realized that most of the time the turbo is listed as glt, but occasionally gtl. I would assume that when it says gtl it is a typo, but saw it on the back of the car. Is there a difference?

There were no GTL models, only GLT. It's a typo when you see that.

Are they individual letters that can fall off and be stuck on individually? The picture of the back of the car clearly shows GTL.

It comes as a little logo badge, with all the letters stuck together.

Definitely not like that in the image. It's a bit fuzzy, but can not see any connections between the rearranged letters. If I go look at the car I'll definitely take a look. I guess it is possible if fell off and was replaced by some other gtl thing, but there is not a picture of the engine and can not even confirm it is a turbo.

The badge Erik showed is from 850 GLT. The S70 letters are minus the black background and attached by each individual letter.

Sample on ebay:

'96 855 GLT, 163k, purchased lightly used in '99
Onceuponatime RIP '69 Shelby GT500 w/7.0 liter

I thought Clockboy was pulling my leg, didn't occur to me S70 badges might be different (duh!). I've never had an S70 GLT.

My first car was a 69 Mustang fastback. Straight 6 and nowhere near a Shelby but still a great car.
