2005 V70 Sunroof doesn't work

I tried pushing the switch in both directions, nothing. No sound or any movement. I checked fuse # 7 in the side panel of the dashboard. It is still good. I didn't check if there was power there but I assume so. Anything else that can fail to make the sunroof not work? A relay or something else? If module, where is it located?

Do you have "alarm system service required" message?

only sometimes. I have already tried pulling the 5 amp fuse and leaving it out. No response from the roof. I tried disconnecting the battery for 30 mins and reconnecting. No help. I tried the locking and unlocking 3 times and then tried.......... nothing. I am wondering if the switch is disconnected under the roof panel, don't see how or why it would be. Anything else I forgotten?

Sunroof and alarm siren "sit" on the same computer bus. When alarm siren dies, it often interferes with a sunroof. It does not matter if you pulled the siren's fuse out, because it corrupts messages on the bus even without power.

If you don't want to fix or replace the siren, you can just unplug it. Either drill out rivets in a right front wheel's splash cover, remove secret bolt holding siren's cage or go the other way through the bumper and headlight (that's much easier).

Ok great! So you are saying I can get to the connector of the siren through the front left under the bumper between the headlight and front wheel? I would like to do that so I can get the sunroof working again.

Siren is located on the passenger side under the fender. You need to remove bumper and passenger's headlight. Then you'll see the siren sitting in the cage. Slacken two bolts and it slides out.

The other ("correct") way is messing up with rivets and darn secure bolt. Bumper+headlight is 10 times easier.

If I recall removing the bumper cover is just carefully snapping the bumper strips on left and right with a flathead and then under those bumper strips are 2 bolts one on each side and those come off and the bumper cover comes right off? Or do I have to take some damn rivets out of the fender well (wheel housing)? Then the headlights should come out pretty easy with a few bolts right?

In 2002 V70 there's no front bolts. 2005 XC70 has it, but I'm not sure your 2005 V70 is any different from earlier years.

So, 5 or 6 plastic clips under the hood (buy a replacement, some of them will break), undo two screws in wheel arcs, like 1/4" and push them in. Remove two bolts at the bottom angles of the bumper. Maybe I missed something, but bumper is pretty easy and straightforward. Then you'll see 3 out of 4 bolts holding a headlight. Last one is hidden under plastic plate, to which well is riveted, it's attached to the car with one bolt. No rivets drilling is required, of course.

Thanks to all you who responded. I pulled the bumper and the headlight on right side, the alarm module bottom nut was a bit of a bitch to get loose but once it was I pulled it out and disconnected it (removed the whole siren module) and now the sunroof WORKS! Thanks a lot again guys!!!
