Hi im a new Volvo owner. I love the car just not the little things it needs. It has 2 codes 0440 and 0505 (had 0507 and its now gone???) Cleaned the air box had mice nest and fixed a manifold leak (in the flex pipe) cleared codes. Not sure if they will or will not come back. Car still idles high cleaned the air idle control. Still idles at about 1300 but its steady. Does it need replacing?
Second it sometimes will not start. Its a 5 speed manual. If you push the clutch in a few times it eventually will start. Is this the neutral safety switch? Thank you in advance!

The 1999 doesnt have an idle valve, just a throttle body. I'm guessing this is a non turbo car as the throttle body is buried on the turbo cars. Idle on the electronic throttle body cars (1999- on)is not adjustable.

If the car does not crank ( near silence ) until you cycle the clutch then I would guess the safety switch is the problem.
