This is very sad

http://alexking.org/about

Alex King wrote not only a good deal of WordPress, which powers the MVS Home page and Volvo Repair Database pages, but he authored the theme that runs those MVS pages in mobile browsers, Carrington.

I interviewed with him about five years ago at his company Crowd Favorite. I didn't get the job, but I got to meet him and speak with him in the 45-minute interview.

He was very sharp, personable, polite, and well-spoken, and we traded notes about our kids. He was extremely proud of his daughter.

I would have really liked to work for him.

This is a shock, I hadn't heard about it until I was looking up reference material on Carrington, and browsed over to his site.

From the first link in my post:
I passed away in September 2015. I was an independent web developer based in Denver, CO. I was an original contributor to WordPress, I created the Share Icon, and I founded Crowd Favorite.
He left a 6-year-old daughter and his wife.

Even worse, he passed from colon cancer diagnosed at Stage 4. There is no reason to die from this - you have to man up and have the uncomfortable-in-the-head procedure of inspection done, and this disease doesn't get you.

He looks young in the pic with his daughter. He may not have made it to the magic age of 50 where your 1st colonoscopy usually occurs

EDIT: looked into it. He was 40
