Engine swap compatibility concern

Post by volvo diyer »

How can I make a 2002 v70 engine (vin code 61) work in a 2004 v70 car (vin code 64)? Pretty straightforward and am just looking for which issues there will be and how/if there is a workaround. Thanks

Follow up question: Does a possible workaround involve wiping my 2004 ECM clean, then downloading the 2002 settings?

You will certainly have to do the ECM flash as the 64 car has hardware the 61 car does not.

And don't expect to be able to pass smog with a 61... Instant failure for missing equipment.
