Get this weird "creaking" on the front passenger side of my S40. Pretty reputable tire shop in town told me it was an Upper strut wheel bearing. Said it would NOT do any harm (?) if I left it. Claims he couldn't get the part, but if I did, he could put it in for the price of 1-2 hours of work and a front end alignment.
What do you gents think? Make sense?
Where can I get the part?
Think I can replace only one, or need I do the pair?
I would replace the pair...I'm guessing we're talking about the strut mount as apposed to the spring seat. Try www.fcpgroton.com If not on their site, give them a call.
Not a true bearing...at least on my S and V70's...it's more like a rubber piece with "sort of a bearing" attached...you have to replace the entire strut mount. I assume yours is like that too.
