So my wonderful 2008 S80 with the 4.4 V8 started showing the check engine light a couple weeks back and was showing P0441. I filled up the gas tank from half full to full the next day and within a short while of driving the light went away. Of course it came back a few days later. I have been trying to keep the tank above half full to see if there was any correlation, but it is persistent now.
Last night I went and had the codes pulled and this time I have P0441 and P0193. I don't see either of those on the code list here at MVS, but a quick google search turns up that they are related either to the fuel pressure regulator sensor or the evap canister.
Any guidance on where to start?

probably the carbon canister
there are documented cases where the tubes in/out of the canister leak/break
search on here for canister
I get PO445 every few weeks
I clear it
I've also gotten PO193 as well
I believe the problem all has to do with emissions
hasn't affected anything for me after 4 years with the codes
do you small strong gas odor coming from under the car during a cold start?

P0193 can be faulty fuel pressure sensor, loose or corroded connector to the FPS, or connection corrosion at ECM pins for the wiring to the FPS.
P0441 is evap purge valve flow. The ECM expects the fuel trim (exhaust oxygen level) to change when it does EVAP flow evaluation. When it does not get expected results the p0441 code is set. Before you deal with this one get the p0193 fixed. High fuel pressure from p0193 could mistakenly make p0441 be detected.

Thanks for the input. I believe I've read the FPS is below the throttle body on the right side of the engine, attached to the fuel rail right?

Well, before tackling this I cleared the codes and the only thing that keeps coming back is P0441. P0193 hasn't returned after several drive cycles. On the V8, the Evap Purge Valve is located behind throttle body down closer to the firewall right? Anything special about removing it? Not finding much about how to go about removing it.

Ok, P0193 has returned so I'll see about changing out the FPS. While I'm at it, I figured I would change the fuel filter as well, however I'm having the hardest time finding it. I've checked the fuel lines near the gas tank and can't find it. Followed them all the way forward till they connected to the aluminum lines in the engine bay... no luck. Is this one of the few models that has an in tank fuel filter?

Well, I replaced the fuel pressure sensor and took it for a spin. I have a pending P0441 after about 10 minutes of driving. Thoughts?

New Evap Solenoid valve arrived in the mail yesterday. Popped it in and cleared the codes. They have as of yet to return. The 441 was usually returning within 5 minutes of driving so I'm hopeful that I've nailed it. Trying to get that cleared away as I'm going to be selling this car. Look for a new post in the classifieds later today for it!
