See up thread. Wiring fault in tailgate led to fuse fault on central locking system which inhibits starter on ME7 cars.

I missed the entire thread!!

I stay away from the forum for 1.5 days and I miss an epic adventure

I wonder if P2s have a starter bypass like that. Makes me want to fix the 2001 T5 (blown HG at the moment) sell it and keep driving my V70 P80 just to keep things simple.

Glad you found the problem. When you take your next crack
at the failing wire in the hinge harness, you might try replacing
it with something more flexible. I've upgraded a number of sections
of "moving" wire with arctic grade jacketed wire with a high strand count
of copper. Here's are links to a place that sells multiple colors and gauges:

http://store.polarwire.com

http://store.polarwire.com/browse.cfm/s ... 2,714.html

You can also strip out the conductors from low temp SJOOW extension cords.
I usually confirm it's the better quality stuff with the low temp rating of -40.
Good soldering and shrink tube on either end of your spliced in replacement
and you'll never have to deal with the notorious broken tailgate cabling again.

Thank you all for this information. It's so good to know that this can befall a manual transmission P80... Now. I wonder if I need to do this!

After repairing the hinge wiring, all well

Clutch seems to require longer stroke to actuate cranking, probably as result of my cleaning.

I'm calling this one totally on rear hatch wiring, by the way, I think the clutch switch was a red herring.

Hatch wiring short......popped number 6 fuse....inhibits central locking....inhibits starting on ME7.

The clutch switch inputs go into the ECU directly, so I can't troubleshoot that further without some serious schematics

Follow up on this. The clutch throw required definitely went up, and today.....cruise control went out.

Also, hit a bump on the pike and ABS light came on...I'll bet my rear right ABS sensor wire fix gave out.

Checking....
