2000 S70 Am I missing a hose?
While attempting to remove the ECM and TCM for cleaning to try and clear up the issues I've been having, I followed the instructions here https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... hp?t=53547 and noticed that I dont have the corrugated hose that is removed in the first step. What is the name or part number of this hose and do I need it? I've been running without it for a few years now I think. The ECM and TCM don't seem too terribly dirty, although I was unable to remove them. I'll see if my mechanic has the tool to remove them. http://i.imgur.com/xolceKD.jpg

Definitely missing a hose. It provides air to cool the computers. They're commonly crack and flaky at the according middle section. I've never seen an intact one at a junkyard. Mine is wrapped in electrical tape in the middle, with zip ties on the end.

Thanks so much! Do you have any idea of the affects of running without this part so long?

If you heat soak your ECU and TCM eventually you get weird electrical CANBUS problems that will drive you crazy. I believe it is strictly a cooling function on these, so probably you will be fine to summer.

That missing hose is the vent hose for cooling the ECU and TCM, not the intake. The "cool" air is actually drawn from the cabin, runs over the computers then vents out that pipe.
So your main danger is dust getting into the ECU, it is probably still cooling about the same except for any hot air that sneaks in there. I'd get another one but no rush, like Steve (abscate) said.

When you replace it, pull the computers, check the contacts, and clean out any debris that might have gotten in there when that hose was gone.

Pulling the ECU and TCU on a '99 or 2000 isn't the walk in the park that it is on the earlier versions unless you have the special $50.00 removal tool. It can be done but not without considerable effort.
