Transmission dipstick question

Post by dorvin »

Hi All,

With a trip out to Chicago planned this weekend, I'm going over my Volvo, checking fluids, etc. When checking the tranny fluid after about an hour drive, after doing the recommended cycle through the gears I found the level to be just below the notched area on the hot side. My question is, what's the the amount of fluid between the lowest mark and the highest mark on the dipstick? I'm just looking to get within the notched area, but I'm not sure how much to add to get it within spec. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

As I recall it is about 1 pint, maybe a bit more.

Hi Lee,

Thanks for the advice, spot on. I posted this while at work, and once I dug out my owners manual I found the exact specs. It's even printed directly on the dipstick as well  .5 Liters between each mark.

Thanks again.
