01 Volvo S60 Sunroof Crossbars

Post by redblur »

There are crossbars that are supposed to be glued to the interior side on the front and rear of the sunroof glass. These are the source of a rattle coming from my sunroof area. The front and rear crossbars have completely come loose from the glass. Without thinking I removed the rear crossbar from where it had come to rest after being detached. It is difficult to determine the appropriate orientation for the rear bar. The front bar is also lying loose but I have not removed it from it's resting place, so I know the correct orientation for that bar.

I have scoured this site and done a web search trying to find a photo or a diagram that shows the appropriate orientation for the bar but I've come up empty. Can anyone please take a picture of their sunroof that shows the orientation of the rear crossbar as it's attached to the sunroof glass? Or perhaps someone knows of a write-up that I missed, with photos, that details the correct orientation of these metal crossbars.

Also I've seen posts that outline sunroof glass removal. Many say that you can simply remove two torx head screws from each side that are located behind the pleated plastic accordian-like pieces from passenger side and driver side of the sunroof. Is this the best method for removing the glass for re-gluing the metal cross bars? I may be able to re-glue these metal cross bars without removing the glass, I haven't looked at it that closely yet. Ideally I suppose it would be easiest if the glass was removed so you can properly position the crossbars when trying to glue them back on.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
