I spoke to Rostra Technical Support today, Scott was his name. He was very helpful. He thinks my symptoms indicate not enough pressure. So I will adjust the solenoid clockwise until my symptoms improve. I will forget about trying to measure pressure from the port that Hiram Guitierez used on Youtube since I cannot duplicate his results. It was a relief to hear Scott's advice. I think I have done everything right except the adjustment. Once I have the solenoid in the right range, then the adaptation, whether it is done by the vehicle relearning or by a Volvo technician, can be done later to get it dialed in. I will let you know how it turns out.phils94850 wrote:The adaptation tells the trans when to shift is my understanding, so if its out of sync then obviously it will cause higher and lower pressures. I may be wrong but that's my understanding and everything ive read most people say it must be done. I'm getting my reman valve body in the mail today actually. Ive read its usually the bore in the valve body is what goes bad and it has to be re=sleeved but in your case since the trans was shifting good in the other car it "should" be fine. I think your issue is the software update and the adaptation needs to be redone, but, I would def try and get the solenoids back to factory settings. You have to remember Volvo parts/electronics are usually all mated up to one car so when you go swapping parts sometimes they don't like it and can cause issues.

Goodluck with it and let us know. I ended up putting a new valve body on mine and that fixed the shifting issues..

Scott from Rostra was right, he thought maybe the adjustment screw might fall out with that many counter clockwise turns. I looked in there, the entire adjustment screw and clip were GONE. So I will be lowering the subframe this morning and taking the oil pan off to correct the mistake. I hope I have not FOD'd the tranny. I have another Rostra solenoid to replace the SLT that I goofed up.

Sounds very familiar, I had that too.jubilatio wrote:Scott from Rostra was right, he thought maybe the adjustment screw might fall out with that many counter clockwise turns. My advise is to install a remanufactured VB since you are going to open it again.
Success! With a new SLT installed, I was able to adjust it just about 7 clicks in to get the 2-3 flare under control. The screw from the previous SLT was in the oil pan, and the spring and clip were still in the bore, so at least I did not FOD the tranny. Lowering the subframe in front really made this easy.

Rostra presets solenoids to the originals. If you had to adjust SLT (main solenoid controlling line pressure) that much it means there's a severe leak inside valve body and it will progress further.
