Front Power Windows

Post by jleonardiv »

Hello. My front power windows on my '02 S60 will not work (most of the time) when the engine is running. It's only the front windows, and neither one will work (from the master switch or passenger switch). However, if the engine if off and the key is on, they work fine. I've read a lot about cleaning the contacts on the switch and such, yet the switch is not the problem since it works perfectly fine when the engine is not running. And it's not a problem with the window motors as they work perfectly fine in the KOEO position as well. Also, to add detail, when the engine is running and I attempt to activate either front window, you can hear the motor initially activate as if the window were about to go down, but then it immediately stops.

Did my software in the door module crap out? Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this issue?

The rear windows work fine at any time from the master / respective switch.

After much research, I was able to pinpoint the problem... it was identified in another thread (see below). I'm sure that many people who have issues with their front power windows working intermittently when the car is running, tend to clean the DDM or order parts to try and fix it. This easy fix of disconnecting the wire harness at each front door connection, cleaning the pins, and using dielectric grease will save tons of time and $$$. I also learned that there may be a TSB and a more robust fix to replace both door harnesses. But for now, cleaning the pins and using the grease has worked.
