Hey everyone,
Does anyone know what the resistance should be for an ignition coil that fits a 2002 S60 AWD (turbo).. I already replaced it with a Bosch but it is my second one in a year and I wanted to see if there is a curve effect..(Still good if used in a different cylinder) A mechanic at work tested with an OHM meter and it read 1080 Ohms

You can find resistance measurement on the P80 Forum but, as vti says, these measurements are not definitive tests of coil function.

S80 forum post: I have yet to find it. Can't figure out a combination of search terms to find it.

I've measured a totally non functioning coil pack with no cracks on the body to have around the same resistance as you mentioned.
It looks as though failure of these is often not an open coil winding or a body crack.
AC Delco provide body boots for these at loose change. Many boots become conductors and cause leakage.

The one I measured was an O'Reilly house brand. Measured the cracked Volvo/Bosch one I pulled and it was way off, even open connections. Gives a starting point for diagnosis.precopster wrote:I've measured a totally non functioning coil pack with no cracks on the body to have around the same resistance as you mentioned.

I did notice the boots as a separate purchase item. Good thing to know for the future and they're cheap enough to try first.
