Product Quality Alert- Bosal Catalytic Converter FCP Part # 099-6301

Gents -- I bought a Bosal aftermarket catalytic converter in late April, 2013. As of a couple weeks ago (not even April 2016) the honeycomb was rattling around inside the converter. My mechanic advises it is shot. Less than three years for an aftermarket cat doesn't stirke me as being very good service for a $365 part.

FCP has a lifetime warranty on all of their parts, don't they?

Yes. I have my receipt. They'll be hearing from me. Still not impressed. The warranty is the only saving grace. Plus, if I understand correctly how the warranty works, you have to buy the replacement item from FCP to get warranty coverage.

Great! Feels perfect. Now replacing its radiator this week. Nice to do an easy job for change!

Never done a radiator. How long's it going to take you?

Probably 1.5 hours total for me (with no problems). I have done this job on several cars like 4 times... so I have it down pat. (anytime I would redo an AC system I also put in a new radiator.) The rub is when the bolts on the rad sides are rusted and decayed and then get rounded when trying to remove (2.5 hour job if you hit the 2 rusted bolt studs that takes time to get cut). That's where this easy job typically breaks bad. When you have to cut the the bolt stud(s) to remove the rad. Its tight getting a cutting tool in there. Hopefully the bolts are not rusted like some I have had before.
