97 850 R build

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

97 850 R build

Post by biohazrd76 »

Need some advice. I'm beginning to get serious with my 850 now that spring has come. I have been told this car has 15g turbo. I'm looking at ard 18t compressor wheel and housing, as well as the exhaust turbine or exducer. With this I would also install a new wastegate actuator, I have seen in aftermarket, like forge brand. The Volvo part is in the 400 $ range . So is this too much money to put into an old turbo. Should I save up and buy rebuilt 18t unit complete. I'm comfortable working on my own. Just asking the experts again. Also currently when the car is driving and boost is at "target" it waivers the power . Rpm should be steady but goes up and down a tiny bit. Hitting full boost then off and on during hard load and boost is at 10psi. Any recommendations

Define your goal first. Turbo is not the bottle neck yet, don't be so fast to replace it.
