Lower control arm rear nut torquing

Post by Skymaster »

What tool is used to tight the nut on the rear control arm bushing?
I don't have leverage with a small wrench. Is there a special tool?
How are you guys doing it?

Front suspension, Lower control arm Aft bushing of the front control arm attached to the frame.
drivers side it is located right next to the exausht down pipe.
it is very difficult to torque because of the transmission pipes.
Is there a special tool to do that?
Also, Im in Orlando Florida and Im having a hard time finding
knowledgeable people out there that can align the wheels.
All they know to do is Toe in Tow out.
if i start asking questions about the alignment, they tell you
to go somewhere else.

The struts are "Rotated all the way in" and checking the camber
with a level on the rims, it is a little positive.
I replaced the Strut inserts (Bilsteens), upper bearings, ball joints, tie rods,
brake lines, rebuilt my calipers and new pads.

Later today, I will take a look; when you use the word "torque," I use whatever means is available, which could be an impact, a wrench, or a torque wrench. So, if this is available via wrench, then tighten it down, and estimate torque.

In the mean time, Google: volvo 240 control arm replacement youtube

Btw, McPherson Struts have been around for a long time...any alignment shop should be able to align vehicle...give them the specs

Yes, it is the rear bushing nut, next to the exhaust. (front suspension).
also, the top of the struts (under the hood) the strut is rotated on the slots all the way towards the engine.
