1986 740 GLE wagon -- where's the A/C low-pressure port?

Post by ChuckyC »

I only see one A/C port, and it's connected directly to the A/C compressor at the rear-passenger side under the hood.

It looks to me like the hose connector of the aftermarket can of 134a refrigerant I bought to recharge the A/C (I'd converted to 134a a few years ago) wouldn't even fit this port, not that I've tried to connect it (I didn't even try due to safety concerns.)

Can someone please inform me as to where the low-pressure A/C port is located, if one is actually present?

Thanks much!

I have dug up an old TSB which covers conversion from R12 to R134a and it appears that the refill point is attached to the receiver/drier. It replaced one of the pipes there.

I think both ports are located on the compressor.
