I would appreciate any advice on my electronic throttle module problem.
I have owned this car a few weeks now (also own an 07 V70) and it once gave me the message "reduced engine performance" an off and on resetted it but I have recently had it come back with the following extra symptoms. Uneven idle with a missfire sound and max rpm limited to near 2500.
I plugged the car into my friends VIDA/DICE and came up with the following
284: ECM-925C Electronic throttle unit. Signal too high
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-925C condition
I have just removed and cleaned the ETM and it was not very dirty. This made no change.
I did however plug in my cheapo OBD2 bluetooth unit and read the code with the "torque pro"
App. It said "throttle stuck open" so I cleared the code and the car instantly ran perfect again.
Turn off the car and restart sometimes results in the same problem but a fault code clear with torque pro makes it run fine again. It seems to me like the self test on start up is failing but that otherwise the ETM is working just fine. Has anyone got any advise on how I might fix this without spending 700 $ on a new one and getting it reprogrammed at Volvo etc.
I left a message with the company Xemodex but haven't heard back yet. It does however seem from their website that they only deal with the earlier year models.

This car is not equipped with an ETM. It uses the electric throttle assembly which has no sweep test. This is an electric motors driving throttle blade via gears and has two potentiometers. There is no control module in this unit as it is directly operated by the ECM.
The most common issue with this system is the male pins and female terminals wear from vibration. Clean the pins and terminals and then use a fine pick and push the female terminal leaves closer together to have better grasp of male pins. Apply dielectric grease and re-connect. Turn on ignition but do not start engine until throttle sweep test is performed (within 45 seconds).

One note on female connector contacts - before re-springing just look and see if the 2 halves touch each other, if they do they're fine. If you see a gap then attempt to re spring with needle or pick.

So I've managed to check the two potentiometers in VIDA and they have opposing voltages and seem to be equal at around 25% throttle. The fault has been cleared and not come back so I don't know if the wiring will do anything. I'll resurrect this if needed to update if the problem starts coming back.
So it's been about a year without any problems but recently the problem has returned. I am about to try the removal cleaning and check the wiring connections as done previously hopefully this will fix the problem.
I don't know if it's related but I have been starting to get intermittent ABS/Antiskid service required coming on at times as well. It seems to be getting more and more frequent but I will start with this problem now and attack the ABS one separately.
Will try to remember to update here if the throttle problem goes away agin.

Quick update. Only a year on the throttle body has more grime on it than I would have thought.
The electrical connection is a harness with the most tiny of possible pins so I just sprayed some non residue electrical contact cleaner on both sides of the connection.
FYI I remembered not to drop the bolts when removing (4x 8mm) but dropped the throttle gasket into the nether regions of the engine bay. It must have taken 20 min to find and retrieve it requiring removal of the belly pan.
