Grinding, coolant everywhere, won't start
Re: Grinding, coolant everywhere, won't start
Went ahead and dropped both of my T30 bits into my engine. Haven't decided if I'm going to start with tears or obscenities.

You would put on a new timing belt and water pump and test compression to find out which valves are bent.
Spending 1000 to find you need another 2000 in repairs.
People will buy these and do the head work themselves to end up with a good cheap ride
Jeney..it is all stupid work to remove an engine head. Once you have it off, you take it to a machine shop for the fix.
If you have a place to work, you can do this yourself with help here and daughter to give extra set of hands.

buy a cheap borescope
https://www.amazon.com/Fantronics-Endos ... =borescope
shove it through the spark plug hole and look for damage to the tops of pistons.
If you don't see any fresh marks anywhere that are shaped like valves you may have dodged the bullet on that.
If you see marks on the pistons, then it's very like a valve met one and it's going to be bent. in which case you're pulling the head and replacing valves.
A machine shop isn't required to do valves, but it's recommended, as they can also check for flatness and do valve guides much easier than you.
the other option would be a reman or a known good used head.
and simply do a head swap in a weekend.

I was just venting. While trying to remove the timing belt cover, I accidentally dropped the bit, which landed in an unreachable place. Then I found a second bit! Rejoice! But nope. Dropped it.

Well, at least it didn't fall in the engine- I have a very strong magnet just for this purpose but a few of those bits aren't made of material to be attracted to a magnet.

I heard them both land on what I think is the sheet of metal that is under the engine (I'm sure there's a better way to describe it.) The reason I dropped them was because they are magnetic. And when I changed drivers, I assumed it would still stay in place. Didn't. Then I changed to another driver and...MadeInJapan wrote:Well, at least it didn't fall in the engine- I have a very strong magnet just for this purpose but a few of those bits aren't made of material to be attracted to a magnet.
