Is the MAF reading a constant 12kg/hr while idling or is it higher and/or wavering? Usually Bosch MAFs are junk by the 10 year mark.

Hi guys,
I have read the entire 26 pages of this thread, as I am facing ETM problems in my 2001 S60 T5, even after SACER TPS replacement.
Long story short:
A couple weeks ago car started to idle badly (it has ~70kmiles / 110kKm on the clock), and the situation got worse, until it entered "Low power mode" for the first time, in an incredibly hot day (~40ºC) - it wouldn't rev over 3K RPM, so no turbo.
Turning it off and then on again seemed to do the trick, and it didn't alway enter "low power mode", so I kept using the car, even though messages started to appear more frequently.
I read the codes with VIDA, wich were the following:

I took it to my mechanic to clean up the ETM, only to find out it wasn't dirty.
So, as the cleaning didn't do the trick, I decided to order a SACER unit and assemble it according to this tutorial:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lB-QJlnfRkY
We replaced the original TPS with the SACER unit, but ww didn't completely remove the green epoxy(?) between the 3 pins in that side... only enough to free their upper part... Neither did we cut anyone of those 3; and we didn't solder the 3 pins from the SACER TPS to the 3 pins in the ETM unit.
We then souldered the black wire to pin #2 on the opposite side (the 5 pin side) of the ETM, forgetting to spread apart the pin, so as to disconnect that side's original TPS.
Mounting it back to the car, it idled perfectly for around 15 min, even with A/C on and LPG on, so we assumed everything was OK.
I drove the car for 5min, it ran absolutely flawlessly. I pulled over, and when started the car again it was acting up again (limp mode and it was almost like it was running only on 3 cylinders…
We reviewed the vídeo, and figured out that the fault must have been the part where we didn’t spread / disconnect pin Nr2, so we did it.
Same behaviour: car started and ran perfectly for a couple minutes, and then acted up again.
First of all, I find it strange that not disconnecting pin Nr 2 got the car to work perfectly.
Second of all, it seems like the problem is “heat related”, as the car behaves well when first started, then after a couple minutes starts to act up. Though it has acted up 1/2xs when cold, to be honest.
I am starting to doubt the problema is the ETM, since the car behaves the same way (apart from the fact that it started to idle perfectly after sensor replacement). I mean the limp mode is there after a couple minutes anyway…
Concerning the SACER side, should I have souldered its 3 pins to the ETM 3 pins?
Should I have cutted the tips of the ETM 3 pins?
I am getting desperate… help?
Thanks in advance!
Filipe

903F, 91A7 and 1A5D are a particularly bad combination of codes pointing to a faulty logic board on the ETM; not the contacting sensors which would have been ECM-9150 or ECM-9160
First go into Network and highlight the ETM icon then read off the 2 x software part numbers in the list. Get another ETM with the same programming. When testing ETMs from a wrecking yard you can plug it into your loom then turn on the ignition. If it powers down after about 9 secs with Ign in Pos II it is a software match.
By the way you should read codes in the Delivery Tab which is the last Tab
Save the Sacer sensor from the 1st installation. It may come in handy. Good Luck!!

Well, thank you so much for your answer...
We don't have plenty of wrecking yards with volvos here in Portugal (it didn't sell that well, and most of them are still runnig)... So my best chance would be to get on off Ebay... What should I look for? Ones that come from same model? The most recent ones available (yellow stickers)?
And, in worst case scenario if software doesn't match, what would happend? Limp mode aswell, with me not knowing if the problem is on ETM or not... right?

Buy another one as late build as possible (post 2006 but check yours first to see whether you have the post 2006 software) You can do this with Vida and go to ETM Test in Diagnostics.
As I mentioned you can test and find the firmware level in Network on Vida so if you buy another you would absolutely be able to see if it's a match or otherwise.
If you can't find the same software in the ETM contact Henry (doublebug) here on MVS or find him on Skype and he can help you rewrite the firmware over the internet to the correct matching level.

So, been back to the car (wich is in my independent mechanic) today, with VIDA.
Started the car, and it idled normally, keeping the "Engine Management - Urgent Revision Necessary" message in DIM and not revving >4000RM.
Connected VIDA and checked for Network - ETM and got this numbers:
ECU - ETM
Status - Active
Serial Number 140301615965
Hardware Number 0008644346 B
Diagnostic Version 09458345 A
Software Number 0009207849 B
Software Number 0009497924 B
I assume the 2 in bold are the ones you told me to find out in order to check if I had a < 2006 or > 2006 firmware...
And based on this results VIDA says this is a pre-2006 version...
It doen's make sense to tow the car to Volvo and tell them "Update my ETM software please, and do nothing else in the car", in order to afterwards be able to fetch a >2006 scrapeyard ETM, right?
So based on this, how would you advise me to fetch an ETM on EBAY?
Also based on your advise, I erased all previous DTC's and rechecked for codes under the "Delivery tab", and this is what came out:
ECM -904C - Sensor 1 e 2 de posição da borboleta (TP) - Defective signal
ECM -904D -Text Message - Informations
ECM -9150 Butterfly position sensor 1 (TP) - Defective signal
ECM -9160 Butterfly position sensor 2 (TP) - Defective signal
ECM -9190 Butterfly position (TP) - Current with Failure
ECM -91A7 Butterfly position (TP) - Control
I find weird that after replacing the TPS with SACER unit the car idles perfectly, but still I have the infamous 9150 / 9160 codes... Is it possible that the TPS wasn't properly assembled?
I also checked further for ETM / TPS details, and this is what I found out (With car running, Idle):

Does this point in the direction of a poorly assembled SACER sensor, or a faulty ETM logic board?
Once again, thank you so much!
p.S. Later on, during the tests, after a couple of accelerations, it started to Idle funny again and entered "Low power mode".
