S60 hood release tension

I have an 02 S60.

I just replaced a broken hood release cable and now am trying to figure out how to tension it.

It doesn't seem to have a tension adjuster next to the release, like some of the posts I have been reading.

I have tried moving the hood release catches further apart, but that doesn't do too much.

Where it broke? In cabin? Can you reach it and grab with a groove pliers? That's what I did, and it worked.
