2006 S60 Left Turn noises

Hello All,

I am knew to the forum. Love the volvo's I have had over the years. Having issues with this one and was hoping one of you nice folks could give me some direction.

I got this car about a year ago, it made odd noises when I turned left that sounded like power steering. When I had the oil changed it they topped off the power steering (without asking me) saying it was low. That resolved the issue for some time, during the winter I had the windows closed and it was not as noticeable. Now Its back and worse. I recently flushed the power steering fluid, that relived that magnitude of the noises for the first few days, but now its as bad as ever. PS fluid level seems to be fine. Read some reports about suspension components but it seems to be related to the power steering. It is much more noticeable on sharp and low speed turns. Any ideas on what I need to look for and what risks are for not attending to it?

On a side issue, I have always had a distinct metal click coming from the front end (maybe more drivers wheel well than passengers) when I go over a bump, is that normal for these cars?'

The car has 154k miles, has not had the pcv system replaced as suggested at 140k, I know these can cause problems. I did switch to synthetic with the older turbo. Should that help, if I see no issues with the system can i get some more miles before doing that?

If the rack is worn out, it can make noise in one direction and not the other. Can you describe the noise - is it s screech?

The end links on these cars, for the sway bar, are notorious for pooping out and rattling - not a big deal.

It is a cyclical groaning noise that gets louder the sharper you turn.

It could be a wheel bearing or axle CV joint. Is this a FWD car or AWD?

FWD, I know that the control arm lower bushings are bad. I plan on replacing them in a couple of weeks.

Jack up each front wheel and put the car in drive and listen for the noise at each wheel. Best to have an assistant do that while you listen from side. Careful!
