Re: Checking Forum Email Alert
Viper, it was the forum configuration table in the database. I'm guessing it had duplicate row(s).
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.
Also -> Amazon link. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

What does that mean haha. Does that mean the emails weren't being sent, and held in some sort of limbo?matthew1 wrote:Viper, it was the forum configuration table in the database. I'm guessing it had duplicate row(s).
Matt just an FYI, at least one of your replies generated a email alert. It was titled
New post on Matthews Volvo Site - ""
I thought it would be titled Checking Forum Email Alert.
Maybe reply again and see what the subject in my email box provides me. But I think for now at least I'm getting email alerts.

Hey Matt!
Quick question for you, have you changed anything in the forum software? I ask because for the FIRST time since I reported this email problem, I actually RECEIVED four emails from your forum. They were all the same. I was happy to receive something at all for a change. Below is the info the email contained. I HOPE something is different now??

Ugh, yea, the multiple sends of the same email (Summer Newsletter) was an error -- obviously unintended. Won't happen again.
Now, for you Viper getting email at all, you should check your preferences (again, I know you've done this).
I sent the newsletter today through the same process that sends notifications (this forum software). It's the same code, same methods, etc. The only thing I can think of is your have your preferences set in the User Control Panel to mute emails.

Matt,
There are no preferences for me to check. Nothing has changed in my email client. The only thing that could be different is something having to do w/my ISP's settings, which I have no control over, nor can see.
It's not my preferences, I haven't changed those since I first joined the forum many years ago, many different ISPs ago.

Viper, sorry I should have gone back and read your history in this thread. Anyway, can you get a second email at your ISP?
If you can and you have time, sign up for a second account and see if that works. If so, I'll take the settings of both accounts and compare side-by-side for differences... "diff" them.
Or get an email at Gmail or Yahoo etc. and switch your MVS account to that email. Then test. If that works, then forward that to your real email, and switch the MVS account email back to what it is now.
Again, if you have time and inclination.
I can't get an account at your ISP to try all this.
